Retail Design – PG Bison

Werk, located in the Lower Baakens Valley, Port Elizabeth, has created a space that evokes community,  collaboration and creativity for small businesses. The current location, its tenants and target market must be taken in consideration when a new brand will be selected in order to fit in nicely with the surrounding brands. User experience and interaction with the product should be the driving force behind the solution. An existing social cause should be linked to the chosen brand to elevate the brand experience. The use of PG Bison finishes is compulsory.  A flagship store for Babylonstoren should be designed in a small shop located in a Cape Town shopping mall.

Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley. It supplies a wide range of health products, fine wine, fresh/organic vegetables and evokes a sense of wellbeing. The A-frame, cladded with dark corrugated sheeting, symbolizes the farm style identity of Babylonstoren. It also fits in with the existing surrounded structures. The silo constructed of brick serves as an entrance into the space.

The farm style is presented in different ways throughout the space. The warmth of terracotta can be found in light fittings and floor tiles. The rough textures of timber and concrete are used to create a minimal and modern look with a classic touch.

The interactive area encourages users to make their own organic face and body products. In this way they are contributing to the animal cruelty free society.

Presentation mediums used: Sketchup, AutoCAD, Enscape and Photoshop
